Master/slave support

Zerigo's platform is fully capable of acting in a master (primary) or slave (secondary, backup) role to other DNS servers you are using. Support for both options is built in to our interface. There are no extra fees for enabling master or slave features.

There are a number of use cases for master or slave support.

Master / primary support

• Add additional secondary DNS servers to more broadly distribute DNS load for your users.
• Use Zerigo's powerful API to control not only Zerigo's DNS servers but also third party slave servers.

Slave / secondary / backup support

• Run a private master server to manage your own configuration but let Zerigo handle the actual production load.
• Add Zerigo's global network of servers to your existing primary solution to better distribute load.

Zerigo's slave support will honor NOTIFY messages for quick updates from your external master. Our master server will also send NOTIFYs to all external slaves so they know to update themselves promptly.
